open, plan to have a fuge/sump on the bottom and my DIY skimmer in sump. i will have to cut a hole in the shelf to do so.

i dont like too much stain...and its more than a few types of paint grade wood.
only in this house for another year and havent found another yet...

thats why i built it, my room mate has a standard 55 on a standard stand and i have to sit down or break my back to enjoy it. so i hardly ever look at it (its freshwater anyway).

yup, off-white. i would probably give it a hint of another color though, depending on what you like. Normal off-white is basically white with a little orange added. You can do that same thing with any color (like off-white green or off-white blue). This subtle difference can make a striking difference. I dunno. I think I'm just so bored with standard cream off white.
You can be proud of the job you did on that stand.

impressive work maverick! i made my stand tall too... i was tired of having to sit down to look at it. it is 41" tall, and i love it! as far as color goes, im a stain person myself, but if you must paint it, i would think a dark color would make the bright colors of the tank stand out.
