ok first off i own a 55g AGA. i think its like 11-11.5" under the cabinets. so needless to say not much as far a sump/refug will fit. i still think a 20long is too wide and out of the question. so if i do two 10's like this will it work. mainly will the return pump be enuff suction to connect the two tanks by way of PVC?? the pink is PVC the red is skimmer the grey is filter sock and return pump and the brown serves two purposes sand and rock. questions and comments would be appreciated.

I'd contact glasscages and tell them exactly how much room you have for a sump they'll give you a quote for a custom acrylic box which will utilize every inch you have. It'll be cheaper than you might guess.
Perhaps one of their standard sizes might even meet your needs. I already had a sump on one of my 90s but I wanted to upgrade to a skimmer which was too big for the sump. They had an acrylic box (16x16?) which worked out perfectly when I bulkheaded it to my existing sump.

2 tens will work just fine. Remember its not just about what will fit in the space under the stand but that it will also be able to be put in there. The center brace can be a pain in the butt to get past. I would consider using a small overflow to connect them or drill both and connect that way.

it just so small in the cabinet it looks like 2 tens with some drilling is the way to go. how much can i expect to pay for that, and any old glass shop will do it??
