Hello all,
I'm new..
I have been reading these posts for a few hours now and have to thank everyone for the loads of good info.
I have a 1000 gal. Koi pond, a 10 gal. freshwater tank and thanks to a generous friend I now have an Eclipse 30, 30 gal. tank that was used for raising Seahorses.
My plans for the tank include small size marine fish and inverts (trying to go for the symbyotic gobie/pistol shrimp relationship), dwarf angel, damsel, some fairy wrasse, a clown fish (or false clown fish)
clam
cleanup crew type of setup
live rock
my friend is giving me some extra "leather" coral she has.
I have done the following so far:
Cleaned everything!
Replaced filters
Added Instant Ocean Salt
Added water (now I know better) :cringe: tap water
added some dead hard coral for a base to my live rock (which I have NOT obtained yet)
The Eclipse aquarium is an all-in-one type of setup and has a "Powercompact 32W Smartbulb" in the hood which has a blue and a white type U - shaped bulb.
It also has a filter cartrige and a biowheel built into the hood. I have a Passive UV light designed to hang on to the back of a tank (from a friend as well).
So my question is, Am I on the right track for bio-load and what else should I be doing?
The aquarium has nothing in it but Argonite sand and the two pieces of dead hard coral, the pump has been running for about 4 days.
I still need to pick up some live rock from the LFS.. I was thinking of building a base from dead rock first.
Any advice is welcome.. Thanks!
