new t5 ho light

ok so im thinking i am going to upgrade lights to current usa sundial t5 ho light, i wantd to ask your oppinion on this light, it will be on a 37 gal reef tank, the light i have on it now is a 36" coralife 96w pc
the sundail light has 2 X 10K 24W lamps and 2 X 460nm Actinic 24W lamps, moonlights and Individually contoured reflectors and dual integrated timers for dawn/dusk control
so let me know what ya think about it, the lfs has one in and i know the owner so i can get a great deal on it. i hope that its a decent light, let me know

I love mine. It is intended for my 36 gal bow front but for now until it gets going its on my 29gal I LOVE IT.....

def a great light. Perfect is an awesome example of what the light can do. If you want to move to a little more poweful you can always go w/the pro which is also another great light at a good price. (I think I need a thesaurus!)

Yep, only downside is the pro's start at 36"...nothing smaller...

And good deal, I hope you like them as much as I do. The std Coralife PC lights that came with the cube tank were cool. When it came time to change the bulbs all I could find were 2 50/50's in instead of one actinic and one 10k daylight. Not sure how different one was from the other because that was a while ago. But when I put these new ones on OMG the difference was night and day. The colors on my corals went balistic, I am going to take some actinic light shots of my tank tonight.
Oh and on the Sun Dials they give you 2 different lenses for the moon lights, blue and white. I have the white ones in and they make the tank look like it would on a full moon. I think I am going to take the blue ones out of my cube tank hood and use them at the same time...

just wondering, the t5 lights put out more light right? so i have a 96w pc light on now and im going to the light you have now, will my corals be ok or should i place some screen over the top?

I dont think light shock will be a huge deal in this scenario. But it is one to consider, you can just start your cycle out reducing the time your lights are on to 4 hours instead of 8. And then slowly increase that over the course of a couple of weeks.
I went from 72 watts of PC lighting to 96 watts of the HO-T5 and everything seems fine.

I would acclimate them to the new light with some screening, two or three pieces should work, then just remove one every 3 or 4 days, or just basically do the same with a reduced photoperiod then increase by an hour every couple of days until you are where you want to be, as far as time the lights are on.

did you cycle them in?

well i finally was able to go and pick up my light yesterday, and i put it on and i could not believe the difference, i will be posting some pics later, its worth the money imo but i did get a deal also

I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to add that I have owned two different Current USA fixtures and had great luck with both of them. I plan to get their T5 HO Pro 36" when I get my 50 up and running.

thanks and i love this light but i am kinda unsatisfied with the "blue" moon light covers but i might put my old ones on it, i will post pics tomorrow some time, its the wifes birthday so it will be later in the afternoon when i post some pics
