New Tang With Cloudy eyes

I bought a new blue tang on Thursday night and on Saturday I noticed that one of it's eys is swollen and has some white cloudy stuff on it. He's eating ok but he can't see out of it to well, I notice that when I feed him. I've done a search but am a little confused on what I should do. I've read that doing a water change might help. So will a fresh water dip, and then there is medication. What should I do I don't want to lose a $40 fish. Should I move him to my hospital tank? The only thing I'm worried about is damaging the eye more when I catch him. My parameters are Ammonia 0.1, Nitrates 0, Nitrites 0, and SG 1.024

You will probably get a better response to this in the Disease/Treatment forum.
Sounds like an infection of "some sort" and will probably need to be treated in a seperate hospital tank if you are going to use meds...
To catch the Tang without scratching /damaging the eye more, rather than using a net try a "tupperware" bowl in one hand and a net in the other...
Guide the fish into the bowl with the net and pull the fish out in the bowl with some water.
You can hold the net over the bowl to keep him from jumping out.
Just a "suggestion" for what it's worth...Next time when you get a "new" fish put him in a Quarentine tank "first" for a couple of weeks...
Then if you find you need to treat him he is already in a Hospital tank and any disease he brought in won't be passed on to all the other fish in the tank.

I here recently received a juvi Koran from an online vender...fins were rotted, big scrape on left side...didnt look well at all...thought he was a gonner...2-3 days later, his left eye was swollen and white...
He was really lethargic so an easy catch with the net...put him in a QT and treated with 500mg amoxycillian for about 12 days...worked like a charm...the gash on his side got alot uglier during the treatment before it got better...he now has a little line/scar...and appears healthy...he has been back in the main tank for about 4 weeks and seems to be doing great...
If you try the Amoxycillian, ensure you get enough for a full treatment period...usually 1, 500mg capsule per 10 gallons...also, do your freshwater dip as well...and keep the water clean in the QT. Supplement with vitamins.
