New Tank and Questions????

I just bought an eclipse 29 gallon saltwater tank. The salesman told me to run the tank for a couple of days. After the water has tested ok, "he said there were certain types of live rock and anemones that we could get with the very little light we have." To run the live rock in a bucket for two weeks, and then add it to the tank (by putting it on the glass and then all the sand around it).
Im not trying to have a reef tank, but I would like a couple of small pieces of anemone to put with the clown we are going to add eventually. Is it true that there are certain live rocks that do not need a ton of light? Or is the salesman just trying to make some extra money?
Does this all sound correct or am I way off??? I can do just a fish tank if needed, but I love the way the clowns play in the anemone.

what is the difference in a flouresent and a compact fl.?
Would 2, 18watt, 24 inch flouresent hood light be enough for an anemony, clams and or live rock?

Definitely not clams or anemones. Live rock, maybe, but more light would be nice. Regular flouros put out less usable light than compacts and are usually less wattage for their size. With Compacts you can definitely do live rock and maybe an anemone, but still no clams. IMO

Could I replace the bulbs with compact??? If I did that and it still wasn't enough light for an anemone, how would I know??? Would it die? Would it kill the fish?? Etc...

No! you can't just replace the bulbs. It requires new ballasts and such.
I had 220w of compacts over a 29g and that wouldn't keep clams.
For the upper tier stuff you need Metal Halides,a single 175 or 250w metal halide would do the trick.
The fish and rock will do fine under normal flourecents.

What you mean by Live Rock, maybe? You can keep Live Rock with NO lights!!!! The regular lights on the aquarium do just fine, but just make sure you replace your bulbs once every 6 months. There are certain anemones that don't require a lot of light, but I do have to agree at a mininum with Power Compact instead of regular flourescent lights. But IF you can save up or can afford Metal Halides, it would do great! You will be impressed with it, I was anyway when I first got into it. :happyfish
