New Tank Help!

is that the only powerhead you have? i would try to get another one. i suggest 2 koralia #2's or even #3's. i would try to ditch the filter and get a sump or a refugium going! what are you doing for lighting?

Haha I removed the link...I didn't even buy it from there, it came with the tank I bought from a guy personally....too funny!
I am going to try and put it upside down- I can't get electrocuted?
I don't have lighting yet...that was my next question. What types of bulbs should I get? I know they are like 46 1/2 in.

no, you PROBABLY wont get electrocuted. that is, as long as the powerhead is working properly. no frayed wires, cracks in the body, etc.
your lighting depends on what kind of livestock you want to keep. do you think you will ever want to keep corals?

What type of lighting should I get? Should I add coral? I was going to get live rock today and lighting but need some help!

corals, like fish, are a while down the road. it depends on what you want. fish only or reef? you dont really need lights yet, so you have a while to research what you want to buy.

So I went and bought like 70 lbs of live rock today and added it to the tank. I have the power head pointed at it and I am about to set up the other one.
I would like to add some corals and fish...yes down the road. So what lights would you suggest?
The tank is obviously not as clear as before because of the sand but I know it takes a while to clear up.

lighting depends on what kind of corals you want. softies such as mushrooms and zoanthids, etc, only need basic PC lighting. LPS need better PC lighting or better yet T5 or metal halide lighting. some SPS you can get away with T5 lights but its better to get metal halide. clams definately need metal hilide lighting. look around for some pictures of tanks you like, or look through the corals page to the left of this screen, and list what you like. even if you only want to start with softies because theyre easy, you may eventually want to try LPS or SPS, so its better to buy a nicer fixture in the beginning rather than having to upgrage. trust me, i started out with a crappy PC light, and upgrading is a pain.
