Finally!!! After months of research and questions, my tank is alive! I am adding LR and more LS tomorrow night. My water level will be better then, I know it is low.
Thanks to everyone for your patience with me and all of the great advice! :)
These pics are in sequence. What do you all think??????
1. 8:00pm - Empty

2. 8:30pm - First bag of LS

3. 8:35pm - Second bag of LS

4. 10:00pm - Letting everything run its course.

5. 11:15pm - Not too cloudy!!! I was expecting much worse!

Thanks! I am thrilled that my tank isn't cloudy at all. There are LOTS "micro bubbles" right now, everything else has settled. Will these go away???
It's a 55 gallon. I am looking to have about 3 to 4" of LS. I have about 1.5" now. I will be buying that tomorrow night, as well as 50+ lbs of LR. I will post more pics tomorrow night!
Any suggestions you all have are welcome!

The only suggestion I have is when you stack your rock that you stack it open to prevent waste accumulation. Everything is looking good

also with the sand that u put in tommorow in stead of just dumping it in a good way to add it without your water getting cloudy is..cut a slit in the bag let water get into the bag of sand lower it to the bottom and then pour it on the sand and there wont be any cloudiness..

I'm sorry if anyone wasn't able to see the pics. I changed a subdirectory name on my web server so the pics weren't visible for about 2 hours.
lilbuddy - yeah....I have 40 gallons in it right now. I wasn't going to add any more water until I have added everything else.
I will be posting more pics tonight when I put my LR in.

Bradttu - How do you like the All-Glass lights? I was looking at them. I can get a 36 inch for about $150.
Thanks,
Brian

to reduce cloudy water when first starting up a tank, this is what i do...it requires 2 people and a python.
i fill the empty tank with sand/substrate. i level the whole bottom area so that the sand is flat and even. than i put a plate in the middle and turn on the faucet (very low flow at first) and let the water run on the plate to spill over into the sand gently...i leave it going low flow until the water is about 2inches above the sand, than i jus turn the faucet on full blast and hold the python tube above the plate as i was and keep the plate right above the water surface...this way the water is being disputed evenly into a larger area and not concentrate to a certain part of the sand/substrate causing it to cloud. I've found this method to work quite well!
