New tank questions

I just got a second tank 40 gal. corner with 50lbs of LR. I currently have a 55 gal. w/LR and community fish (about 1 year ago). I was wondering about live sand I have crushed coral in my 55 but was told it was not so smart (had problems with worms but otherwise Ok). Also if I use my water from my water change and put in a damsel or two from my current tank (want them out anyway) how long will it take this tank to cycle?

I'm not sure what you are asking? Are you moving over from the 55 to the 40? Some people like CC most don't. I had CC in my 75 and I had nitrate problems, switched it out to LS and haven't had any problems ever since... IMO it looks about a 100X better also-

That would depend on what you're adding to the tank, I would recommend buying some bacteria and/or "Sechems" New Tank Stabilization System"
Normally it takes about a month for a tank to cycle.
