New Tank Set Up

Hi folks - I am in the process of setting up a new 55 gallon tank - initially this will be FOWLR and LS but eventually I may add corals. Thus far I have the following complete and would welcome your comments or additional observations as I proceed:
55gallon - with 60 pounds LS. Water and sand is in and has been filtering for about two days - salinity and temp are holding within desired ranges. Filter is an eheim 2218 canister with wet dry and mechanical material along with an internal thermometer. I am in the market now for a skimmer but have yet to purchase. My lighting canopy is 2 - 175w MH and 2 - 96w CP Actinic tubes (along with 2 fans).
I just ordered from SWF.com 50 pounds of cured Live Rock which hopefully I can place in the tank early next week upon arrival. Anyone have any experience with their Florida LR? I then plan on doing daily water tests until the tank cycles before adding anything else - is this enough?
Any comments on the process so far? I am recently returning to the hobby after about 7 years absence. I am curious as to whether anyone believes I am missing anything or not doing something I should be doing at this stage. How long can I expect the cycle to take? Any comments on the skimmer purchase - I want one that is silent as possible yet gets the job done.
Thanks.

First off welcome back to the hobby:D now if you bought the cured live rock there will be almost no life on which will not really speed up the cycle prosess as for the skimmer I would recomend a aqua c remora for a 55 gallon good luck:happy:
