Hey everyone. Im very excited, my tank finally is set up and is working. I got it earlier this evening. Its a 40g, i got everything for about 600$. (The other store was going to charge me 900$) I got a ton of rock, like 45lbs. I just got everything working, and sand / rock / water in. Im very excited to finally have gotten one, after reading so many books
How long until it starts to clear up? Its sort of cloudy, but its only been about 1 hour. Cant wait to get some starter fish

Anyone have suggestions on good starter fish, or anything else that wasnt in any books? My LFS was very helpfull, the guy was like 85 years old and has had the shop for like 40 years he said. He got me everything i needed. Is the pre mixed water from the stores alright? They had it there, in a big thing, and the guy said to use it because it the right salt amount. (I bet it was ocean water, because i live like 1/2 mile from the ocean) Well Thanks for the help.

well your first purchase should be a testkit and a refractometer, and get all the the rock and sand in and leave it alone for a while, you cant introduce fish for a while....but hey congrats!!!!!!!! thats awesome BE PATIENT!!! im going through problems because i introduced fish too early..and are you gonna want corals etc??? is this your fist tank ever?

yea this my first tank. I will add corals once everything working. I have test kits and all, everything is right on track so far... the guy said to add starter fish like 4 days into it..then like dont add anything like tangs ect until week 8 or something. Hoping it all works out, ive been researching a lot and so far its looking good. Ill try to post a pic once everything gets clear.

Ya that Is pre mixed water from the stores is alright Because if your a dummy like me you might add to much salt (like 1.040 too much salt) im stoopid. Butt it doesnt help much either when the maids spray chemical all around it. then ur sand turns green and everything dies

again PATIENCE....
your tank is gonna go through a couple cycles at least until you can add fish......how many powerheads do you have??? and you have the complete set up for corals? including metal halides( just an example) and everything needed for corals? i would suggest doing a FOWLR first until you get more experience with saltwater, ive been doing aquaria for about 5 years but only 6 months salt, and im no where near ready for corals

the guy at the store said to start with the smaller corals that dont require much. like mushroom corals ect. he said not to bother with the really expensive lights until a get a year or so into it and really want to pay the cash. i have two powerheads right now, once again i just basically went off that the guy at my LFS told me. He wasnt trying to scrue me cuz he was like 85yrs old and was soo nice

Tang- fire those maids!!! they are stoopid  ...well good luck on fixing it
