New Tank Suggestions

I was thinking of starting a salt water tank. My dad has had a lot of expirience in salt water tanks, and he could always help me. We are good friends with a local pet shop owner - by dad has bought off of him since he was selling out of his garage. I trust him, but I haven't gotten to talk to him recently. I would like to start a reef tank with a couple colorful fish that aren't too difficult for a beginner to take care of and aren't too expensive. We have several old 20 gallon tanks downstairs that I might be able to use as a sump or quarantine or any other things, but other than that all of the equipment is too old and needs replaced. I was wondering if anybody had about a ballpark price for a pretty good quality tank. Sorry i'm vague, but any suggestions would be appreciated - livestock or w/o. Thanks!
Edit - Approximetly a 50-100 gallon tank - Sorry :happyfish

I have decided that gobies are the best fish for begginers because they are cheap and easy. Stay away from damsels though they are cheap, they are aggresive. I also am a begginer but I reseach everything so good luck

You are looking to spend anywhere from 1000-2000 dollars depending on the equipment that you get. It's hard to give an estimate without knowing what your ultimate goal is.

Thankyou. That is what the LFS owner said that i knew. I talked to him today and i'm hoping to save up enough money from lifegaurding over the summer - lets hope. In the meantime, I've got some research ahead of me  . Anyways, i've been browsing these forums and have learned a lot. I'll keep looking around and helping with what i can, Thanks
