Hardware? Hopefully everything you need is already in the box... it's new, right? You should only need to add water, live sand and live rock, then plug it all in and wait a month for it to cycle.

Do good amounts of water changes to overcome the need for a skimmer...chiller is only gonna be needed if you have a heat problem.
You could pimp it if you want though.....I spent like $700 on my little NC12gDX when I first got it but it had everything!

Unless you live in a really not climate and like to keep your house above 80 degrees all the time (instead of using the house A/C) then you'll need a chiller. You can buy a protein skimmer but one small enough to fit probably won't do a whole lot... though it will help. I know that oceanic sells a skimmer for $50... I've used one and it does get gunk out.
