New Tank

Hi All, I am back, was out for a while and busy with work.
Well my apartment is about to complete. And My architect/******** decorator wants me to have a tank in between the kitchen and the living area. So He is going the break the wall dividing the kitchen and the living area. And the thickness I get is abt 18 inches. The tank will be 72"L X 18"W X 30"H
Now my concern is - is 18 inch enough for landscaping and make tunnels? Will the fishes have enough space to move around go in and out the LR and swim freely?

With all due respect to your designer you are talking about an estimated 150 g tank. IMO a large (no pun intended) tank for a beginner. Make sure you really want to get into the hobby or you may wind up with an expensive planter

Joe,
Yes, I am ready for it. And I shall need your tips and expertise in setting it up. I am going to take it slow and steady. And you will see many Qs from me in the future when I get into it full fledge. Also I live in India and we do not have many knowledgeable marine aquarists here - I am solely dependent on this forum :) and let me add I have been keeping fresh water fishes for few years. That way im pretty much prepared.
What tank size do you have and how long are you into this hobby?

i had a 150 for years it is a nice size tank.not too big and not too small.you will be able to get tunnels .especially if you get some shelf rock mixed with lr.i have been at this for a long time.but the way i keep my tanks now probably wouldnt fit for a beginner.first off can you set up a 30 to 55 gallon tank somewhere in the new place for a qt.it will really help you from getting sick fish in the dt.one big mistake a beginner does is impulse buy and put the new fish right into the dt.sooner rather than later it will wipe out the tank with disease.
have fun sounds like you are doing a wall divider tank?that can also be a bit tricky getting eneough flow in the tank and not see the pumps and powercords.once you get up a pic of the tank i am sure you will get plenty of help here for a nice set up.

Hey Jeff, Thanks for your views - I appreciate it. Yeah I will get a QT as well somewhere in the apartment. I have read about quarantining the fishes for 5-6 weeks before I put it in the DT. I am going to do that's the plan.
Yes, Its a divider tank. And I will have the sides of the tank to cover the plumbing and electric wires. Vaguely things might be visible in the kitchen side but I will take care of the living side of the tank completely. When I have the picture I am gonna put them up, right from the beginning. Like I said I am gonna ask lots of Qs
Thanks once again...
