New tank

okay so I'm not exactly new to the hobby , I've got 20 years of experience with fresh/salt water aquariums . However, I'm new to what I'm about to set up.

I lost my last tank in hurricane sandy , it was s 90 gal corner tank , loved it...

So since then , have rebuilt etc and the wife gave me a lot of restrictions on having a new tank , can't take up much space etc etc etc ...

So, I took a long time searching for a tank that would fit the needs and I found it but I'm worried about making it work. It's a 30 gallon vertical tank, I'll post a picture of it from eBay. (I have the tank up and running but don't have a new picture on my phone) .

Anyway , here's my concern, I want a reef tank with some corals. I'm worried that since its a vertical tank , water flow will be an issue , particularly on the sand bed. I have 3 power heads (only one running cause it seems to be strong enough). I'm also worried about the light being strong enough to reach the bottom with enough light.

I've done research and I've read fish prefer shallow long tanks as opposed to a vertical tank but I'm going to treat it just like a nano in terms of fish.

I have a canister filter and bio wheel set up with live rock and live sand , it's currently cycling. I'm very patient with everything, so that won't be a concern.
(Have a skimmer too, didn't set it up yet)

Sorry if I've written too much, basically I'm coming here to ask for any tips or concerns or if there's anything I should do/think about etc

Here's the photo of the exact tank before I purchased it:

For the rock, i went with a kind of straight up pvc support structure with a heavy base. I did what i could to keep the rock being on top of the sand to a minimum while still keeping it structurally sturdy/strong.
