I just picked up and 84 gallon and will set it up as soon as I get the stand built. I already have my 55 set up and cycled so when I transfer my water , sand and lr and wet/dry from the 55 to the 84 will it completely re cycle or just do a mini cycle. Also what kind of sand should I use. I hear people talking about southdown what is that?

You might go threw a mini cycle but that wont last long. The sand I really like is carib sea aragonite. Southdown is sand that is sifted from the ocean and sold as play sand. They only sell it east of the missisipi. Southdown will work as good as any other aragonite.

Alot of people use southdown as an cheaper alternitive, But I believe it is best to seed the southdown with some live sand to help the process. I know I have seen your exact question on the board in the last week. I know this dosen't help much but a search will help you out.
