Mixing saltwater is not really that hard, get a good salt (instant ocean or reef crystals i use the second one), a refractometer (you can get one online for $50), a power head, a 5 gallon bucket and a good dechlorinator (i use Prime) or a RO/DI unit. Let it mix for 24 hours then check the salinity. Reef Specific Gravity should be about 1.023. Add water if the salinity is too high, salt if it is too low (if you add salt, let it mix for 24 hours again).

+1 to that, except no need for a dechlorinator(don't use tap water for a reef) use distilled, or ro water.

Hey, so i've been out for awhile... been busy with school and a job and such. But! I got a 14 g biocube and all these accessories for it, for Christmas! :)
I'm going to a couple tropical aquarium shops tomorrow to pick out my special fishies and coral :)
Do you guys think a lobster would do fine in the tank? One of the stores had a lobster that was only about 2 inches big :). I'm not sure if he was just a baby, or stayed small?

Aw, that's pretty discouraging... They had a 3 yo lobster in the store as well, and he was very playful. If you put a pen in the the tank he would come out form his cave and biteclaw at it.
The tank is not cycled, the store is giving me pre-cycled water that has the bacteria and such. I was iffy at first because they said I could come back for the fish the next day, but I asked other aquarium stores and they all backed up the idea. The aquarium store has the best reputation in my area too.
