ok so i'm getting a 30 gallon i've got almost no clue but i've been reading on this site for 4 days i want a reef in mine any advice on fish and care and what not
new to saltwater fish

welcome to the board, great place with a lot of people who know their stuff!
I guess my first question would be what kind of tank is it. Is it and all in one tank with the equipment included or is it a regular tank that you will have to add equipment to? I dont know if you had read much about live rock but I would check it out, l/r is a great thing to have in your tank and it helps with filtration. Also do you know if you are going to use crushed coral, live sand or bare bottom? when you go with corals you cant use stock lighting so there is a lot you have to check out with that.
It would help a lot if you could give more info about the tank and maybe things you would like to keep also what type of corals.
I would suggest that you keep reading and asking questions, the more research you do the better. at the top of this forum is a list called 101 tips, that would be a good place to start. good luck

well i want sand i think and i just want some pretty bright fish i know nothing about lights or anything were just getting a tank and adding equpment but i dont know anything about what i need

In my opinion that is a really hard question to ask, a lot of it depends on your and your wallet. if you have the money and you are into this you could really go all out with equipment and how you set it up. Or if you dont have a lot of money or do not want to deal with all that you can go with a simple set up which there is nothing wrong with it. I am not up to explaining all the diffrent ways of setting up a tank but I would seriously suggest to read all you can so you will have some idea of what you want to go with and we can take it from there. someone else might give you a different answer or diffrent opinion and its to be expected, I would just suggest to you to research all info you are given so you can make a educated decision of your own. Also the search feature is a great way to look something up if you cant find it. Like I said before keep reading, keep asking
