Hello,
Just jumped into this new and exciting part time job of running a marine aquarium. I spent countless hours reading the forums here that helped me shape how I set up my new system.
I have had freshwater tanks on and off for most of the past 25 years and finally decided to try my hand at saltwater.
My set-up:
-90 gallon display
-1200 GPH overflow box with dual 1" PVC drops to the sump
-29 gallon sump with skimmer (reef octopus 110) heater (Tru-temp 300w with controller) Refugium with live rock and macro algae(takes up about half the sump), and a returm pump section (1400GPH pump).
-2 Kydor 1050 wave pumps on a controller
-120lbs live sand
-90lbs of primo deco florida live rock, 30lbs fiji branch rock, 30lbs fiji live rock
-CUC consisting of 50 various small snails, 15 various hermits, 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 peppermint shrimp, 4 sand sifting Gobies.
Running for about 5 weeks and water parameters have been 0amonia, 0nitrite, and 0 nitrate, 1.024 salt, temp 79.5-80.5, PH 8.0 for the past 3 weeks. PH is slowly dropping I think is due to low alk and calcium I have a test kit coming this week with supplements.
Added 2 Mocha Clowns and a Sailfin Tang this past weekend.
I look forward to any tips or advice anyone may have on my current set-up.
Cheers!!
