New to saltwater

Hi everyone! I have had a freshwater tank for awhile now and just recently decided to try my hand at saltwater. I have a 30 gallon tank with an AquaClear 70 and about 10 lbs of live rock, 30 lbs of live sand. Some type of metal halide lighting (can't remember the exact specifics, boyfriend is the fish guru and says it's good, though lol).
My boyfriend has a 125 gallon saltwater tank, so I filled half my tank with water from his. It's been set up for about a week now.
Obviously not going to get any fish/corals for awhile, but I'm planning on a pair of clowns (would love some picassos or snowflakes), royal gramma, and a flame angel. I had my heart set on a mandarin until I did research and realized it's a task to keep them fed.
I'm taking my time letting the tank cycle and aquiring things... I know I still need a protein skimmer and some various other odds and ends. These forums have really helped me out in my research.
Just figured it was time to introduce myself...so, hello!

Hello, welcome to the site!
All I see missing from your list of goodies not mentioned is a power head.

Thanks! Knew I needed one, just forgot to add it. What would be a good size for a 30 gal? My filter provides a pretty good current already.

Welcome to the forums!
A couple of Koralia 420 powerheads would be very nice for your size tank. Koralias have a much better design than your standard maxijet or rio powerheads, and produce a different flow pattern.

I have a 30 gallon running currently and I have two koralia 1400s in there, fish love it and my corals like it as long as you do not put them in the line of fire from it, but the are pointing towards the surface anyways. People may say that I have to much flow but when can you really have to much flow?

+1 I agree with you..... not too much flow at all. I have two 550's in my 24g and they are too weak, I will be upgrading them when money comes in line.....
