And any other tips or helpful information is appreciated I will post pics as it comes along
Hi, Welcome to the site!
You need to build enough live rock to go about 1/2 way up the center of the tank. The goal is to have enough surface area to build good bacteria colonies, live rock is loaded with good little critters that help to keep the tank healthy. Be sure to leave enough room on the front and sides so you can clean the glass with a magfloat.
A skimmer won't be needed right away, maybe about a month after the tank is established, and it isn't an absolute necessity even then. Live reef sand is the best, this site sells good live reef sand.
What you do need are power heads to create a good water flow, the wave is the life of the ocean, and your SW tank, for a 100g I would go with at least three Koralia type, or if your budget can do it...the MP40's are the new rave.
Do you know if you want corals, or what type of fish you want to keep?
