new to the nano

ok before i purchase a 12 gall nano
i want to know about them?
is there anything i should know about before i by a nano?
i would hopefully keep 2 small fish in this tank
1 small goby/blenny, and 1 small other fish.
is there temperature problems with a tank getting too hot.
i live in san diego and there can be hot weather.
and do i need a skimmer?
also about how many watts of lighting would i need to keep sps in the tank?
btw, im not new to sw, just to nanos.
i have a 75 tank with corals and such.
thanks in advance

i really dont think sps will be a good type of coral for a 12gallon.. they need high flow, strong lighting like metal halide or T5 HO with individual reflectors, stable parameters and take in lots of calcium
i cant tell you about temp problems since they may all be different, but for most of the nanos people usually replace the stock pumps with something with higher flow that doesnt use many watts
as far as anything else to know... you might end up upgrading the lighting system since a lot of people do
and you should know that that its 12 gallons total, but what youre actually using wont be 12 since theres going to be water in the back compartments, so itll be less than that
you wont need a skimmer, but a lot of people end up using one.. i have a 10 gallon without a skimmer-- as long as you keep up with water changes weekly
i do have the biocube 14, but never got around to setting it up, should be sweet though. you should go with something like a biocube 14 or biocube 29
