new to this, starting up a 110g high

hey there, this is my second tank. the first one is a 55g that was alreeady fully running for 2yr already. 2days ago i just mixed the water, put in about 80 of rock that died off, my fluval 405 (with no media), and threw in 3 raw shrimp to boost the cycling process. did i do this wrong? open to all advice for i am new to this. thank you for your time.

i believed it died off, it was once live rock and it started to give off a odor, not to sever. it was partially submerged in saltwater not fully. so i guess it would be considered dead rock. i don't know.
i also plan to go FOWLR, even though i was thinking of doing a mixed tank.

okay, o i will add some live rock from my established 55g tank.
Also to add to that i used tap water and added the salt myself. it would be pretty expensive to by around 90g's of water factoring in rock and sand. was that a bad idea?

yes i did. i used Nutrafin aqua plus tap water conditioner. is that the right thing?
and since i used the shrimp method, approximately how long would this cycling process be?
i dont want to jump the gun. should i add the live sand now? i dont have any skimmers running. im going to add the heater now and i have been running actinics lights on the set up for the rock.

You treated your water the right way... however, you should consider buying an RO unit.
The first cycle can range from 1 week to 4 weeks... it's over when NH4, NO2, and NO3 have spiked.
If you already bought live sand, OK, but it's really only necessary to buy dry sand, add it to your tank, and then put in a cup of sand from an established tank.
It saves some money that way. Yes, add it now..... just make sure that you like your live rock arrangement first..

Take out all that shrimp you put in the tank and just add a small piece of one tail. That will get your tank cycling started once you get some bacteria from your other live rock in the tank. It doesn't take much organic matter to start the cycle.
Add your sand, rock, etc. and all your filtration equipment right around the same time. It will save headache.
