new XM bulb in place

ok all so most of you may know that i was getting ready to change out my halides here within the next month or so....well i got the bulbs the other day and replaced one of my 250W13K AB with a new 250W 13K XM and let me tell you i can already start to see differences adn the bulb has only been in for three days now!!!! the XM is physically shorter than the AB, by about half an inch, but one of the acros that i have on the left side of the tank...(which i ordered in as a neon red polyped acro and has always been brown in color) is finally starting to turn neon red! I am sooo excited! i was wondering if any halide users here had any links to par ratings for this bulb? i am very curious! this change has me freakin out though! ill keep you all posted and document the progress via digi pics!

hey Dv.sorry for th ewait on the reply.....yeah XM does make a 10K bubls that burns at 13K and yes i still use two 36 inch vho actinics for supplement.....i was really surprised by the xm.....i hadnt heard good news about them but am very pleased with the 10K...we used teh 20K hqi in the shop that i work at and i wasnt impressed at all....it looked too dim and looked like the actinics were on all the time....weird!

I am using 2 250 Watt 10K XM bulbs. They seem to be working great. They were 65 dollars a piece. That is a huge price difference between brand name bulbs. I asked the company that sold them to me why they were priced this way, and the man told me they were new to the industry and to expect the price to rise soon. I guess you need to get them cheap while you can.

Hey jon,
I'm running a 175w 10K Ushio and a pair of 96w VHO's. I'm not thrilled by the brightness or color of my MH. What is the XM bulb? I paid about $79 for the Ushio and was pleased with that price but if I can get a brighter bulb for less money.......I'm there.

I recently purchased a 400w 10000k XM bulb, and have been very impressed with its performance. It has been a great bulb, I will post some pictures of its color output once the bulb breaks in. It has an output that looks bluer than my 10000k Ushio.
