i am a new salt water tanker...and my tank just cycled. i have some live rock, but this weekend, i added a new piece..was gorgeous..the LFS said the rock had come from a customers tank...the rock appears to be filled with these clear long worms or something with tenacles... they mostly come out at night..but do come out of a day..and its just gross..should i take the rock back?? it has little bugs crawling on it...but i heard those can be good for your tank..but the worms are just gross..i dont even know if one can return live rock to a LFS? any comments?

The worms are ok... The more biodiversity the better. If you don't like them, then get a goby or a wrasse and it will eat them.

For the most part worms and small shrimp like creatures are a part of the natural diversity found on good quality LR...they are harmless and can be very beneficial....they may appear gross to you...but they are natural and can be a positive part of a well established system.

Before you take action to remove them or destroy them I'd urge you to do some research on bristle worms...peanut worms...copepods.

i was just afraid the worms were a bad thing... i have this book saltwater aquariums for dummies..but i found very little information about worms in it...they're big ole long clear looking worms or tenacles..its hard to say because they only come part of the way back in then go back in the same way they came out...

The last worm you described could be a bristle worm. They can sting you if you touch them and they can damage some corals also... If it's a bristle worm. Read up some more first. Most worms are good to have.
