Newbie Question - Sump/Fuge

First off, I'm new to SW tanks and have been reading up on them only from the begining of the week. However, since I'm slow at work now, I've been spending most of my day this week on this site reading through all the posts and trying to absorb as much information as possible. I've ordered some books from amazon that should be in the beginning of next week. My plan is to set up a 29 gallon tank in a couple weeks. I was going to wait a little longer, but thanks to everyone on this site, I think I'm already off to a very good start.
So here is my question. I a little confused about this whole sump/fuge thing. I understand how the sump works and plan on using one with a 10 gal tank. However, what exactly is a fuge. My understanding is that the fuge is the part of the sump where you keep the LS, LR, etc... Am I on the right track?
Well, I'll say it now for the first time, but definely not the last. Thank you all for all the help you've already given me just reading through these posts. I will denfintely be posting more in the near future as I start to set up the tank for some suggestions and to make sure I'm doing it right. I'd rather do it right the first time if possible.

Hate to bump this. Sorry if its a real newbie question, but unfortantally that's what I am at this point. I spoke to my LFS and they said I could buy a sump. Is it better to buy one or just make your own?
