Hi everyone, I am new to the saltwater hobbie. I have had freswater aquiariums for 15years and decided to change. My fiance bought me a 29g starter kit eclispe tank for christmas and the impression that I got is this is not a good thing. Is there any thing I can do make this tank a little better or increase waterflow. I am very excited to get started but I what to learn all I can fist. Thanks for any help.

one of my friends have a 37g W/ a eclipse hood and everything is fine, all water parameters are good never has any problems because he does weekly water changes on it. Also he has a 3in DSB and live rock in there to help out with the filtration, and a small powerhead to help water flow, and he has a light load of fish i think about 4 fish(flame angle, purple firefish, yellow wrasse, cardinal fish) some cleaner shrimps
if you want to learn more about SWF read post on here and post some questions and read some books to help give you some good information, I hope his setup gives you some ideas on how you want to set your new tank up

Sorry to say there are alot of posts that say to stay away from the eclipses since your limited on filter/skimmer space and limited in the hood for lighting if your going with a reef.
I would say start out by getting a good book like the Consientous Marine Aquarist by Fenner and reading this thread.
Thread here
Then start asking your questions. There are plenty of knowlegable people here ready to help you out.
Almost forgot welcome to the forum!

I have a 15g eclipse in my kitchen and i love it!!! dont over load it and use live and and rock. Sometimes my nitrates will go up but in the kitchen it is very easy to do a water change.
Current home owners are a coral beauty and a royal gramma 2 crabs and 4 turbos.

You can add a powerhead to increase water flow. I think you would be ok with fish, live rocks and some inverts. Which is easier to start with .

as far as a skimmer with the eclipse hood you have to do some diy and cut a hole for the tube.
