Hi, i just got my 12g aquapod about 3 weeks ago. Been lurking ever since. I'm a complete newbie but have been reading tons every day. I finally added my CUC about a week ago (4 turbos, 5 hermit, and 5 nessarius) and my levels are Amonia=0, Nitrate = 0, Nitrite (hard to tell but closer to 0 then the next color). I also took out all the bioballs and ceramic rings and now only have the sponge in chamber 1, and some cheap walmart polyfil, and the charcoal in chamber 2.
My questions are:
1. I hear a lot about just using crushed LR in the back chambers. Where exactly do i buy crushed LR? I have regular LR in the tank along with LS. But was wondering is crushed LR something like LR that is crushed down to the consistency of sand? or is it just chunks that are too small for the tank?
2. If i do replace the sponge with crushed LR, will my tank cycle all over? and will i have to wait longer for fish? If i have 2 clown fish in there, will they survive?
