News flash: the war in Iraq is NOT a war against terror

I get so sick of politicians lying about this war. And people seem to eat it up. All they have to do is use the term terrorism to justify anything they want to do. Here are some facts:
1) No iraqi has ever been a part of a terrorist act against the US
2) The majority of terrorists in 9/11 were actually from Saudi Arabia... Bush's buddies
3) We lost the war on terror when Bush failed to catch Bin Laden in Afghanistan/Pakistan
If you all remember, Bush originally justified this war by claiming that there were weapons of mass destruction... WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE BUSH? When he failed to get those, he shifted his explanation to this lie about a war against terror.
Now Bush refuses to talk about pulling troops out because of his strange concept of winning. WINNING WHAT??? Are our soldiers really going to stay there until there are no more radical islamic extremists?... Never happen. Bush has said many times that we have already won the war. I don't feel like a winner in this scenario. Personally I could care less if Iraq doesn't have democracy if they don't want it.
Another news flash: if we left Iraq, violence would diminish there not increase. What I'm saying is that our presence there is clearly causing more violence not less.
Just to inform anybody... this war is not about winning democracy or freedom, this is about Bush's legacy and that alone.

True... but a lot has happened since then. So to all those who actually voted for Bush, do you feel that you've been lied to? Are there any Bush supporters left? The voters have put this clown in office for a second time. Unfortunately, the American people only have ourselves to blame for the thousands of 18-23 year old young men being killed.

Actually, the only people to blame are those 18 - 23 year olds, who all volunteered to join the military...full active or reserves.
I get so sick and tired when I hear people saying..."Bush is killing our troops!! Bush is killing our troops!!"
Bush isnt doing it, people...it's the Iraqi insurgents, with the AK-47s and RPGs.

That's a naive perspective. First of all, the soldiers probably did not join the military to further Bush's personal legacy. They joined because the majority come from working class families and cannot afford education or good jobs without the military.
You don't blame Bush for this war??? You blame the Iraqis??? WE INVADED THEM!!! Remember "Shock and Awe". Now you act surprized that they are actually fighting back. What did you (or Bush) think would happend when we went in?

if it weren't for those MEN and WOMEN enlisting to protect our country, you would not be able to rant like this.
Lets hope that you welcome those men and women home with the dignity and honor they deserve. Please don't tell them that its their own fault for joinging

You didn't answer my question as to why Clinton didn't take out Bin Laden when he had the chance.

Honestly, I don't know. I do believe though that Bin Laden was not perceived as the same threat during Clinton (pre 9/11) as he is now.

That's not true at all. I was a 5 year Navy veteran (Air Crew and Special Forces).
It doesnt matter if they joined up for college or not, the reserves or active duty. You're joining the MILITARY. For those people that say "I just joined for college, but now I wish I hadnt, cause I'm in a war" shouldve thought more about that before they signed on the dotted line.

OH, but he was and we knew he was. When he dissappeared a year before 9-11
our intell became very nervous, knowing he would be following through on some of his threats.

Bin Laden was responsible for the original bombing of the World Trade Center, when Clinton was in office...you cant say he wasnt a credible threat.
Trust me...I saw the intelligence reports...Clinton knew Bin Laden needed to be dealt with and when we had the chance to do it, he backed off.

So you're saying they assumed the risk... I can't really argue with that. But does that mean I shouldn't criticize the man who has put these young men in harm's way. The soldiers are courageous and have probably been influenced by notions of patriotism and heroism. The military is also a necessary part of our nation. But we shouldn't turn our back on these men because Bush thinks that they are a necessary sacrifice. The soldiers don't get to make that decision.

Not sure your logic really makes sense. If you agree that Bush is ignorant then the voters do bare some responsibility for electing him. That election marked a dark day in American history and we don't even realize it yet.

But if we want to talk about Bin Laden... let's do so. Clearly Clinton could have saved many lives by taking this guy out before 9/11. He's not off the hook. But how about Bush's response to 9/11. He sent in air support believing that the Northern Alliance would catch Bin Laden. But they didn't care so Bin Laden slipped away. And what about Bin Laden now... he's been forgotten and we're fighting Iraq.

i think that when you join the army, navy, air force, marines, whatever, you should sign up expecting to go to war. you should expect that you will be shipped off to another country to fight for your country and KNOW you are putting your life in extreme danger.
so i really dont see why everyone is so mad and sad that the soldiers actually have to do their job and commit to what they signed up for. they knew what they were doing when they joined and they cant just back out when they actually have to do something
my parents are both air force veterans by the way, so nothing against the military

So should we not care when these young men are killed? It just really bothers me.
