Its not very common, but there is someone out there that breeds a maroon with a perc. One of my maintenance accounts has an occelaris and a maroon in a 75 with no issues. That being said, I would never recommend mixing a maroon with a perc or any other clown, but yes, it is possible. Good luck

Its definitely not recommended, and surely not a good idea, but I know of quite a few tanks that mix species. Some species are much more aggressive than others, and some are more mellow and really dont mind the presence of another clown. This hobby has too much gray area. Not everything is so black and white, or so set in stone. Not even 10 years ago there were people saying "
you cant keep anemones alive". Look at us now

I delt for many years with reptiles and know for a fact that individual animal temporment is the key to social interaction. As for mixing a maroon and B&W am still going to attempt it with a slightly larger B&W. I just added a good deal of rock two days ago and other fish today so no territories are established yet. I already have a tank for back up should things get ugly.
