I will have to agree with him. I have a GSM that I have had for about 7 months. He was raised pretty much by himself in a 55 gal. After I recently got interested in learning more about my tank, i decided that he needed some companions.
My first mistake is that I was ignorant of what I had. My second mistake was I didn't care that I was ignorant. So as a ignorant person might do, my wife and I picked our fish based on "that one is pretty". Well that isn't totally true! I did follow guildlines of easy care, hardy, and fairly non-aggressive fish. Well my pick of three various damsels, a bi-color blenney and a percula clown fish was fairly good. Alll of these fish have been great purchases (lucky me), except for the perc clown. My veteran GSM has no problem with most of my fish, but "he" is very aggressive to the perc. The first 4 days, the gsm would not allow the perc (p) down from a top corner. A week and half later, the p is allowed around the bottom of the same side, but is occasional harrassed or pecked at. I'm not sure of what the outcome will be, but for now I don't have no plans to trade or sell him. I hold hope that things will work out.
My point is that, had I taken time to read up on my GSM, I would have found out that this fish can be territorial to other clowns. Be sure to do your background work. Make sure your teaming fish that are good bed-fellows.
