So the wife is going to Chicago for a weekend with her friend. She is looking for a decent hotel that is inexpensive. The most important factor for her is the location. She wants to be in an area where she can shop til she drops without taking a cab. Anybody stay in any nice hotels on/near the miracle mile?

homewood suites.....right behind Mariott, (great location 1/2 way between everything) Mariott....depending on the rate, and the Westin (closer to Cheesecake Factory) 1/2 way from most things is always good especially when shopping

& Towers is that the south end of Michigan Ave “nice”… if you look at like a traveler web site you can find deals.

If there is a Radison in the area you might want to check out their website, they offer very nice packages.
The Cheesecake Factory? There are sooooo many great places to eat in the city why in the world would you go there? Their cheesecake is nice but everything else is average at best...when you go to a restaurant and they have 100+ items to choose from you should get a clue that their food isn't going to be very good.
I highly recommend The Italian Village on W. Monroe, great food and a rather romantic setting.

I didn't say I ate at Cheesecake Factory, I stated the hotel is close to that end of MI ave.
Also look at tripadvisor dot com. They seem to have decent reviews.
The Embassy Suites was nice also. But that was a few years ago.

Personally I like the cheesecake factory but it is a bit touristy. I am deciding between the Westin, Whitehall, Wyndham and

Gardens.

The intercontinental is nice and right on Michigan Ave. that's where we stay. The Omni is nice too. you can go wrong with any of the hotels on that part of Michigan ave.

Actually, none of the hotels appear to have any vacancies.

I would call the hotel. We've never had a problem getting in last minute. Unless there was some kind of huge convention or something.
