Nice Watch Owners

I just bought a rolex for my husband's 40th... There is something about hitting that age that I figured he needed something cool. I just got the basic one. And he has been very happy with it. Now lets see what he does for mine in several (lots) of years

Rolex Two Tone 18K/SS Blue Face Submariner.
There is definitely nothing "Gaabage" about a Rolex. That is the one thing you find most often about a Rolex, either you like them or you don't. They are definitely not for everyone.
I wear mine everyday. I did not buy it to keep it in a box. There are several swiss watches that I do not like for various reasons, but I'm sure someone here owns them and likes them very much and that is all that matters.
Here is a picture of what it looks like. It's from a website, not my actual watch as I have never taken a picture of it by itself:

I've read reports and talked to many business owners with many rolexes and say they only look good. The report I read said they lose over an hour of time over a 3-5year period average.

Now those are the top of the line. Performance and style. I like my Tag though, but I will have an Omega in the roster one of these days, probably after the Tissot.

All switch watches have their movements certified by Swiss Official Chronometer Control (COSC). Any perpetual rotor watch is considered within tolerance if it does not lose/gain more than 4-5 seconds per day. I think the actual certification is -4 to +6 seconds per day. It does not matter if it is a $1500.00 swiss watch or a $100,000 swiss watch. If you want accuracy, you buy a quartz. Quartz watches are certified accuate to +/- two-tenths of a second per day.
Considering if you could keep a perpetual rotor watch running non-stop for 5 years to begin with, that is the equivalent to loosing about 3 seconds a day which is within tolerance for any swiss movement. They can be adjusted, but if you go to any swiss watch forum on timezone.com and ask them should you worry about 3 seconds per day, most will say that is good for any perpetual watch. I've seen people freak out over losing a second a day and want to send it back.

I don't know what people have against quartz watches....???
I'm not putting down Rolex by any means, just saying when guys that own them and different guys that sell them tell me not to buy them, I take that as a hint. The sub's are very nice, if I was going to get one, that'd be my pick. But if I'm going to drop 3g's on a watch it better keep time.

I agree. My best friend has an Omega Seamaster and it is a beautiful watch. You can't go wrong with an Omega.

Hey Tony, It's all good man. I don't have anything against quartz. They are just two totally different types of watches and comparing them to each other is not really apples to apples. I bought mine because it was one of five goals that I had before I reached 40 and was important to me. I don't wear it to stand out, I just love the watch. I've had people I work with walk up and say "It's a fake isn't it?". I just say, "Damn your good. $40.00 in New York." No big deal.
Oh, and the Two Tone Sub is a little over 6g's and I've never been late for a meeting.

Peace Bro'

ESQ - made by Movado, dive model. Very nice, especially for what I paid for it.
I have also lost my fair share of nice watches and sunglasses. Way too many to even think about, all do to the water gods.
I have been wanting an Omega Seamaster for many moons now. Someday.

I think that ruins the simple clean design of the Eliro.

Yes, you can get the real thing from ----, but you better know what you are doing. I would not recommend it. The best you will do for a real one is about $5800.00 if you want it new.
Believe me, I am part of a Rolex board that watches ---- sales very closely and they know all the authentic gray market sellers. I have never seen one for less that was from a trusted source. Don't believe the sales and bids you see on these. Most of the time it is one of us bidding to ruin the auction and save someone from being separated from their hard earned money.
Remember, when you buy gray market you will not get a warrantee unless the seller offers one and they have been known to rob parts from new ones to repair ones they have sold. I can't believe how many times I've seen where people have sent in their Rolex they bought gray market to have it serviced and Rolex contacts them to tell them that a part was switched out or a part is not authentic. You then have one of two choices, you buy the original part that should be in the watch which is not cheap or they send you back your watch unserviced.
When you spend that much for a watch, it's worth the peace of mind to spend an extra few hundred dollars, and contrary to what any Authorized dealer may tell you, they will negotiate on the price. Cash is king if you are serious and you can usually get 10%-19% off depending on the model and serial number run.

wow you all are into your watches.. ive never owned more than a 200 dollar watch.. and ive broke/lost everyone ive had.. now i dont use a watch at all.. the clock on the radio in my truck or the clocks in my house tell me what time it is.. and they are alot cheaper.. and when im at work.. i prefer not to wear a watch so im not sitting there looking at it all day,, that makes the day go by longer i think.. i never check the time at work lol. if i had the money to blow though id get a rolex.. i like them alot.. but i wouldnt ever even spend more than 300 on a watch.
