Ok this morning I woke up and my 8 inch niger trigger was lying on the sand like normal (thats how he sleeps). I didnt think anything of it until i walked up to him and he didnt move he just laid there he usually swims around when he sees me. He was still breathing but his color was disorientated. well anyways i came home from school and he was dead laying in the same spot. I took pictures this morning because i knew something was wrong with him and i was planning to ask when i got home what was wrong with him but instead he was dead. He was acting perfectly normal last night swimming actively and nothing seemed wrong with him. The only thing that i can think of that might of done this was i fed my fish last night some fresh raw shrimp that i got the same day from the grocery store. But all of my fish ate the shrimp and there are all still acting perfectly normal so could it have been the shrimp? I had him for around 3 years and got him when he was 3-4 inches and i have never had a problem with him so why did he just randomly die,???????

tank details:
180 gallon
porcupine puffer
passer angel
lunar wrasse
tomato clown
sailfin tang
zebra eel
undulated trigger(so far not aggressive at all but watching him carefully just in case)
water conditions:
nitrate- 5
nitrite- 0
ammonia- 0
Ph- 8.2
(I will add the pictures later tonight i have to get them loaded on the computer)

Here are the pictures... these are from this morning when i first found him laying there.
Now looking at the pictures i see redness on his fins and body could this be a bacterial infection? If it is could that happen over night like that because like i said before he never showed any signs of problems before today.

Fish can have organ failure just like anything else, and that would probably be the only logical explanation IMO.

Did you check your water readings? Has this fish been behaving differently over the past few days?

Yea i had the water readings at the bottom of my first post. I checked the water right when i got him when i found him dead. He was behaving perfectly normal, and i didn't notice different with him. Saying that i guess organ failure like ibanez said is could be the most logical explanation for his death. Its so weird for a fish to be acting perfectly normal one second then dead the next.

Some times fish just die suddenly for no apparent reason. Without have symptoms prior to death, it is near impossible to guess what went wrong.
