Niger Trigger

depending on what and how much you feed they can grow fast.
they are one of the least aggressive and a small one can be added last to a reef where inhabitants have already established territories. if given plenty of space and well fed it wont disturb inverts and smaller fish.

Nigers have individual personalities, like all fish and they're generally peaceful. However, I've had two who grew quite fast and large and as they grew they tended to run the tank, becoming quite aggressive. There was always plenty of food and one setup was 55 gal, 1 - 75 gal. One of my tanks did have inverts and the Niger did seem to enjoy crunching on my crabs from time to time; anything that would fit into his mouth was fair game to him. I've seen others do this also but this was my personal experience. My two cents...

I agree they all(Nigers) seem to have different personalities, I've talk to people that have had nothing but problems with thiers, we bought ours almost 2 yeas ago, he has grow quite rapidly from 2-3in to 8in. Ours likes to be petted, now don't laugh or call me nuts, I'm serious, everynight when I feed he comes right up to me and lets me stroke him. I wouldn't trade him for the world! $20.00 trigger, $200.00 worth of other cool inverts...your choice. With all of that cool stuff in your tank, I would be devastated if I put a trigger in there and he cleaned house. I do think Niger Triggers are neat though, I plan on adding one to my 110 aggressive setup when it is done cycling (only 2 more weeks!). If you do decide to add one, may the force be with you!! Good luck!

a small niger cannot destroy $200 worth of corals and inverts. when introduced real small it will take a while for them to adjust. and if it is causing problems they can be caught and returned.
