Ok that is good to know. Can they breed on their own? Asexual or not?

That was one heck of a worm. We are def. going to remove that little pest now! I guess I will be paranoid like you! Esp. after seeing that 7ft worm!

I just found a 3 inch fire worm in my 12 gallon with an LED flashlight about 10 minutes ago....then wanted to see who else does the same thing and found this post. I read the same article about the Oregon Reef a couple months back and decided this thing shouldn't be in my tank....heh. I really think I should have taken a pic of it before sending it off on the porcelain express (all pipes lead to the ocean, right?). I didn't really have anywhere safe to keep it, have a 3 year old who would be a little too interested in it if I tried keeping it in a fishbowl and I don't have a sump/fuge setup on the bigger tank. Also, 7ft is scary....especially knowing now what a 3 inch bugger looks like.
So, here's my 2 cents on the moonlight/flashlight thing....I have moonlights on the lighting rig for the 55 gallon tank but I still like to look around occasionally with a brighter LED flashlight that was only a couple bucks somewhere (can't remember where I got it). It's basically 2 LED bulbs next to each other. Works great, doesn't spook or wake the fish, and is still bright enough to get a good view of all the bio-diversity. The moonlights are still cool, for casual browsing though. Hope that helps, and enjoy the nightlife!
