Okay, I have a 55gal with LR and LS. It has been cycling now for around 4 1/2 weeks. My ammonia is 0 but my nitrite is 2.0. What can I do to bring it down? Someone had mentioned clams? I have no fish yet, but hoping to get some soon.

Just Give It Some Time And It'll Go Down By Itself, By The Way The Clams You Mentioned Help To Bring Down Nitrate Not Nitrite

AMMONIA AND NITRITE ARE DANGEROUS TO YOUR FISH BUT NITRATE IS NOT AS DANGEROUS AS THE OTHER TWO, USUALLY REGULAR WATER CHANGES CAN KEEP NITRATE WITHIN EXCEPTABLE LEVELS BUT FISH CAN TOLLERATE NITRATE AT 40PPM WITH NO ILL EFFECTS, BUT CORALS WILL NOT TOLLERATE NITRATE AT 15PPM
SO JUST WAIT FOR THE NITRITE TO GO TO 0 THEN ADD YOUR FISH OR INVERTS SLOWLY :happyfish

I have found it sometimes takes a water change to get nitrites to drop, I don't know why but sometimes they seem to just linger, and after a couple of water changes then the levels drop.
I would do a 20% water change, wait a few days test your levels again and see where you are at.

It is not true that nitrites are dangerous to saltwater fish. That is a common misconception.BUT you should still not add any fish yet! I learned on here that nitrites are not lethal in small doses but I'm not sure about such a high level.
