I don't think those fish have a chance, although your 55 gallon tank isn't ready for fish yet, what makes you think a QT tank will be? Same process still applys, you have to cycle your QT tank - which will still take 3 - 4 weeks depending on the size. Do you have a cycled tank? Does your friend tom?
I would suggest placing the animals in Toms tank until yours is ready - and the inverts and corals probably won't make it no matter what b/c although your tank may be cycled in a few weeks, it won't be mature enough or have low enough nitrates to support corals. I would either place them in toms tank OR if you can setup a ten gallon and fill half of it up w/ water from toms tank, then place about 5 lbs of LR from his tank as well and some sand. This may provide enough bio filtration to hold the animals until your 55 gallon is ready to roll.
And tell your parents / friends to stop buying you stuff until your tank is ready :)

I'll take it for 5 dollars! And i'll take those clowns off yer hands :) J/k, don't give up. Not to be mean but you jumped in head first and you didn't know what you were getting into, so now you have to take a lot of time and patients getting back up again. Jesus, your ammonia is that high? I've heard above 1.0 will kill off the beneficial bacteria.
Okay, since your tank does seems to be a mess you could take EVERYTHING out, let it dry out for a few weeks, let the rock and land dry out. Then after everything has died off add the rock back in, then the sand, then the water, then mix in the salt (no need to premix since we are starting over). Then once everything settles (may take 4 days or so) turn on your pumps. Then add a raw shrimp and watch your ammonia daily, once it reaches close to 1.0 take the shrimp out and watch the tank cycle.
I would personally wait b/c i don't have the time to take everything out, but in your case it may be the best bet considering how high your ammonia is, how messed up the cycle has been, and you probably have a lot of dead animals in and under you sand and rock. Just anothing thing to think about - you always have options, but don't give up!

Dont hold your breath.. it may help speed the process up but IMO you wont be all set in 24 hrs.

have the LFS hold your stuff until the tank is ready, let it cycle, may take weeks may take a month or longer, but you will not make it cycle and ready for fish in 24 hr.

Lol, there is not magic cure. No one is laughing, you are just doing EXACTLY the opposite of what 80 or so people have told you between the 5 posts you've had. You are trying the simple and quick fix - which there is none.
Do you think dropping your ammonia means your done cycling? I guarantee after you place all those animals in that tank your ammonia will spike up again because there is not enough beneficial bacteria.
I say start a small 10 gallon with some established rock and sand (not from your tank) - i think this will give your animals the best chance of survival.
Good luck dude, i'm done talking to myself about this topic.

I feel this thread is getting ridiculous cause the guy isn't listening to anything at all. That bottle of live bacteria will help some, but it's not done cycling....Your pushing the envelop and it is going to explode right in your face. I feel bad for those creatures.........

humm so the guy asking for advise is now the expert, and we're all wrong.
Bottom line is no matter how long this tank has been up and running all the die off for fish, new rock, ect. has put it in a cycle, and the cycle will have to complete and stablize before you can start over with live stock, no magic potion is going to fix that, yea it may make som levels lower but it will be right back up, I just hate to see more stuff die here, but I'm done talking also

Personally I'm not sure what you mean about not having 2 months to sit and wait... do you need fish in there tomorrow for some strange reason? Just curious. And if by chance they don't survive, and you have to buy new fish in 2 months, wouldn't it have just been better to wait until your cycle is complete? Just questioning the basis for your statements because I'm curious, that's all.

If the fish don't make it, won't you be a little P'd that:
1) you wasted $200.00 on a "pro"???
2) you didn't listen to the folks on here?
