nitrate no3 problems

I have done reguler water changes and my nitrate is still sitting around 5.0. I have a fluval 405 canister filter. What else can i do to bring the level down. Also i have live rock and chaeto please help im stumped.

.5 is nothing to even think about.
unless you meant 50

Again no matter what your setup 5 is not going to effect anything. Being conservative anything under 15 is desirerable.

probably the test kit if your reading .5. take it to your LFS an get a double check

nitrates at that level wont bother anything.
mine is always at 10 and i do alot of consistant water changes .
as long as the nitrites are near zero you have no problems.
ammonia will turn into nitrite so fast i usually dont bother with the test just nitrites which are toxic.
i wouldnt worry about it.
