Nitrate Removal

Try a shorter question. What is the best way to remove nitrates? Live Rock, DSB, Cheato,etc....Tell me what you think.

Water changes, cheato, water changes, quahogs, water changes, not over feeding, water changes, and of course waterchanges.

Yup!
Also if your nitrates are an ongoing problem due to high stocking or maximum feeding a DeNitrator works well and will overcome the cost of salt for water changes. You still need to do water changes to replace elements but not nearly as often.

quahogs are a type of clam that is a non photosynthetic, filter feeding clam that reduces nitrates. I have four in my sump. they cost 2.99 a lb at the grocery store you can buy them labled as little necks, cherrystones, or qhuahogs, the only difference metween the three is size. little necks being the smallest and quahogs being the biggest.

I have the Midwest Aquatics DeNitrator which imo is better built but also imo, how good does it need to be built? Make sure you follow the instructions to the "T" although I don't know how good the instructions are for the Aquaripure unit.
