Nitrate spike

I had my nitrates down to the 5-10 range for a while. I added a lot of dried out live rock and some more live rock to my tank on Saturday. All of a sudden, it seems my nitrate is around 80.
I have about a 2 inch bed of live sand in there.
Could the nitrate spike be because of the rock I added?
I lost my baby hippo tang

I am doing a 20% water change today , and another tomorrow. Is there anything else I could do to bring this down quicker?

So are you saying you added uncured live rock to your tank?? :scared: :scared: I would say yes that would cause alot of problems.

Okay, I have two Nitrate test kits. I tested my water prior to changing it.
Red Sea Test shows nitrates at 10
saltwater test mast kit I have shows between 40-80
:notsure: :notsure: :notsure:
Which kit should I trust?
All my corals look great and fish look great as well. They are just swimming around like normal.
