If my nitrate level is around 20 is that normal? is there a good way to lower it? or just doing water changes

How old is the tank?
How big, how much LR, how much LS (how deep is sandbed)?
What equipment do you have? Skimmer? Sump/Refugium? etc.

20 is horrible dude! get that down to 0 ASAP!!! Get some Seachem Purigen to filter it out. MY nitrates are 5 and i consider that to be to high.

20 is nothing to freak out about, especially if it's a new tank.
over 100 is time to freak out.
But need to know some basic info in order to help.

I second what cjworkman said; 20ppm (nitrates) is no big deal. Nitrites are another story; the two aren't being confused, are they?
