water changes, alot of live rock, or a deep sand bed depends on what you got. is it a reef or fish only or fish with liverock. either one of those 3 methods will help lower trates as long as you don't overload the system. hth

It is a separate tank that is plumbed into the main tank. The fuge usually has a light on 24 hrs a day to grow macro algaes. The macro algaes absorb nitrates and prosphates as they grow. The fuge can also be a place to grow pods and other micro organisims the fish eat.
The fuge can be under the cabinet of the tank or next to it. CPR also makes a hang on fuge.
