nitrite not falling.

my nitrates seem to be falling, yet my nitrites are staying high. Has anyone ever heard of this? could it be algae eating the nitrates? I have a 30 gallon with 30 lbs l.r. and 20 lbs l.s. Thats it. 2 1/2 weeks old. everything else good.

How long it been like that? They tend to be higher anyways I believe, unless I have the 2 mixed up.

I belive nitrites should fall and nitrates rise. this is not my case.i am going to do a partial water change tonight or tomorrow.

Be advised that certain additives (snakeoils...) can give you false readings on Nitrites. Specifically, Nitrobacter, detrivore kits, and others like it.

I don't recommend a water change, it will drag out the cycle process.
