as i've told some of you, my friend had his striped goby and purple basslet thing in my tank.....we got the goby back to his house safley, not the basslet because its too crazy to catch.....so tonight i came home and pulled out all but one piece of my live rock....i was trying to catch the basslet but then all of a sudden, here comes my eel careneing out of no where and i stopped for a second and was like, ----, he's bookin down the side of my tank....then it hit me, it looked like it was feeding time, but hey, i hadn't put any food in there!!!! i looked at the basslet right as he bit around the neck of the fish.... i started tapping on the glass and when he let go i scooped i up and threw it (basslet) into a bag of water...it was dead.......anyways, i was putting back all the rock and he had hid in one piece...i thought htere was only one hole but thhere was two and when i grabbed that rock to move it back to place, he stuck his head out of that hole and bit me!!!

[hr]
...........
anways, then he swims out behind a piece of rock, and i finaly get all my rock back into place....but now i dont see him....should i take out all the rock and look to see if i crushed him? what do i do????
i'm so scared
btw, my angel fish and eel and clowns are doing perfectly.......
eating right (mysis shrimp and for the eel, i give him krill....)
should i be feeding him live fish now that he can take em down? or can he not fit them into his mouth yet?
sorry for such a big thread post.......
anways, should i move the live rock???
or wait.....i have like 7 or 8 pieces and i hate to do it because of the fishies.......

You should take back your flame angel. Angelfish only do well in established tanks and require pristine water. Yours isn't even done cycling yet.

i've been told that if i use a conditioner, it detoxifies the nitrites and the angel will be fine....
if anything does happen, dont worry, i will take it back..i care more about the fish than my enjoyment.......
what abou tthe eel though
does a 4-5 inch eel get stuck often?

You don't seem to understand. Angels are VERY DELICATE fish that need an established tank and pristine water quality. There is a reason why people NEVER cycle their tank with an angel. Your tank water is toxic, and nothing you add will help. It is still cycling. Take all of your fish back and do it the right way. What do you mean "if anything does happen you will take it back". The only thing that will happen is that it will die and be floating at the top of the water. Are you going to return a dead fish? The fish is suffering NOW, so take it back.
Why are you being so irresponsible about this. Everyone is telling you what to do, and you aren't doing it. There are ways to do things, and ways not to do them, your tank isn't the exception. There are no shortcuts in this hobby. People here aren't giving you wrong advice, you are just choosing not to pay attention. You should take back ALL of your fish and FULLY CYCLE your tank the right way.
As for the eel. Who knows. You could have crushed it. Maybe it is hiding/stressed due to 1) bad water quality 2) you just destroyed the entire tank/his home/rockwork 3) he is stressed already due to just being added(rampage didn't help). He bit you because you were wrecking his home and made him mad. If he is alive, catch him and take him back.
You would do this if you cared about the fish as you say you do.

Wonder why one person would feel the need or the place to chastise another...wow....
As for your eel...just tie a shrimp around your finger and poke it in the holes...he will find you like he did last time...
And as for your tank...you know what to do and not what to do...it is your tank, so do with it as you please until someone else starts footing you bill for it...

Who told you this? I don't recall reading it. Was it from your LFS? Seems to me you have a very selective attitude, in refusing any other advice to the contrary. This has been going on for so long now. And you have ignored everything!
People told you from day one that the eel and the angel were inappropriate. They still are, and your tank is still incredibly instable, and now you will never know if you added some chemicals!!!! You will battle this cycling problem for the rest of the tank's life now, if this is the attitude you have...just add some drops to make every mistake better. It doesn't work that way for long. There are no miracle mixes in this hobby.
You were going to take them back. But now they are 'fine,' well, except for the basslet which I am sure enjoyed being crushed by the eel. No worries, a lot of hobbyists think that is the 'cool' part about having an eel.
We are wasting our time answering these posts.
If anything does happen??????? My friend, no LFS is going to take back a half dead angel, and that is what people are trying to tell you will probably happen. If it doesn't, it would be the exception.
I, for one, am tired of giving advice in this case. One of the most aggravating things I have ever come across. Honestly. Now I am going to go bang my head against a brick wall, and have some coffee.
Best of luck to you. Your animals will really need more.

PS dreeves, when people ask advice, people will give it; when people ignore that obvious
advice day after day after day, and waste everyone's time, and the lives of animals...well, they will get an eye full of attitude back.

I agree with the harsh comments that were made here. This cat needs to wake up and see what is happening in his tank. These fish did not ask for you to play God with them and decide how they shall die. Most of us are in this hobby to make our systems and its inhabitants THRIVE. We have all had deaths but we tried as hard as possible to prevent them. You, it seems have done very little to try and stop it. In fact, your style is causing more problems then you are solving. Even if you have deep pockets and can afford to waste money, think of the fish you are killing. This isn't a toy! They are live creatures and they deserve better. What if someone tortured your dog or another family pet. Would you shrug that off?

what is all your peoples problems?
i have talked to like 20 other people about this....calling fish stores, going to my lfs....everything.....
i have a about a 50/50 response rate giving me advice in favor of both sides....
keep them, your nitrites are and have been 0 (seeing as how my test kit was malfunctioning)....i have been told it might be hard but i do water changes like every 4/5 days it will be fine......
bringing them back would just be more stressful....
AND i have told you, i wanted to keep the eel because he is the most beautiful i have seen.....he is so small..my tank is a perfect size for him.....as he is now......i understand that within about half a year he will have out grown the tank.......
but i've already ordered a 90 gallon bowfront.......single overflow...
i'm gonna build a sump for it....
you guys dont know what i've been doing...you think the little amount of posts i do here is all the research?
i've been on other forums (well, only 2, but still)
and i've talked to numerous LFS's.....
my lfs is fine, i went in there to buy some shrimp (thinking they clean up more waste then they produce, so i thought it was a benefit....) he wouldn't sell to me because he knew my tank wasn't in a great stage....he understands taht, but he told me it would be best to keep the fish there, along with other people telling me the same thing......
no i dont have money comming out of mypockets.....
i'm a server/student in college.......
i stayed up all night for 3 nights making sure that my fish were okay, i even took the angel out and put her in a bucket then the bucket went into the tub (of warm water) and i kept her out of the "toxic" water for about 4 days......i kept making sure the water stayed about 79 degrees.......(i dont have an extra heater)....i also put a piece of LR in there.......
i'm just asking questions to try and make everything better....i think we all just got off on the wrong foot and you guys got the bad impression of me........
i'm really a kind guy, i never hurt anything......and i was taking that basslet out....i was very dissapointed to see that happen....i even took the fish in a bag and tried to give it CPR...but that didn't work..........
so
sorry if i have offended you......
no intention to....
thanks for all your advice which i genuinly appreciate........

What I dont see is why you people just have to go out and buy your fish right away during your cycle??!! I waited 2 and a half months before I put my first fish and coral in my tank and waited a month before putting in hermits and such. Its not that much of a hassel to take fish back (unless your like me and you have no lfs around you for 500km)! You do this and you dont have problems at all with angels. You just take your time.

listen
i'm sorry
okay!!!!!!
i am!!! i was told that when my cycle is over, i can add fish....and i was told that a cycle can be as long as 1 week and up to a REALLY long time.....
my tank had a really big ammonia spike, then as that was going down, a really big nitrite spike for about a week, then it went down....and my nitrates went up a bit...just as my nitrites went down, i had a really big algae bloom....i was told that was a cycle..................
