Are you in the middle of a cycle or is this an established tank??

There are a few things that help reduce nitrates. Lots of living rock, macro algae and water changes.

It could a middle of a cycle like Tizzo said. Or it could be something wrong with your test kit that it just doesn't show a low enough reading.

My test kit shows a low enough reading.
My tank has been set up and running for 2 months.
I added cured live rock about 2 weeks ago and i know it should have messed up the readings then but its 2 weeks later and they are still the same.

Was the "cured" live rock from a mail order or was it a 15 minute drive from the LFS?

This is my guess...
I think the LFS lied to you and that rock was either not cured or hasn't fully finished curing. If you have livestock then I'd do a lot of water changes. If not then you can just wait it out.

Course we didn't search for other possibilities like...
Did you recently add a fish...or 4??
Could anything have died, including a part of your clean up crew? (we really need an acronym for that...CUC, LOL
did you recently change out all of your filter media?
Anything you did differently, recently?
