Nitrogen cycle

Hi, I am new to saltwater aquariums and forums, so please forgive any ignorance.
I just purchased a tank and live rock and am waiting for the cycle to begin. I placed the live rock into the tank two days ago and have tested the water and the following are the results: ph 7.8; Nitrate 0; Nitrite 0; Alk 300; Ammonia 0; SG 1.023; temperature 73 degrees F.
I was wondering how long it takes for the cycle to begin and if everything sounds about right.
I would really appreciate feedback. Thanks

Sounds about right, you might not see a spike for a week or so. Keep testing every day or so and just be patient and it will pay off. Sometimes a tank will take up to a month to completly cycle.

Thank you very much. It is a little scary. I saw a little green hair algae on the live rock. Will this effect the tank.

I am relatively new as well, but the Temp and pH both look really low.
I thought pH should be around 8.2 and the Temp should be about 78.

Temp and PH are definitely low - unless you are going to specialize in cooler water species your temp should be between 78-80 PH is typically 8.2 8.3 Also you wrote "Alk 300" I believe you meant Calcium (CA) 300 that too is a bit low should try to get it up close to 400
