In a different post you said you buy phosphate sponges in bulk. I thought phos. sponges killed Leathers!!! I see you have leathers is this not a problem? Obviously yours are doing fine.
How often do you use the sponge ?
Just curious

HUH...somebody calling me?!!?
*_^
The only Kent product I've ever used is their Phosphate sponge...comes loose in granular form. I add approximately 4-5 tablespoons in a micron mesh bag and place it in the return on a millinium 3000 mechanical filter for 24-48 hours(once a month)(This is on my refugium). Primarily to reduce potential phosphates and to polish the water. The same procedures are used with activated carbon for the same reasons. Never seems to cause a problem with my leathers. My sarcophyton has produced 6 frags...my cabbage has now become 4 seperate corals...and just recently my figer leather has been fragged into 2 seperate corals.
My refugium is neither. I went skimmerless approximately 4 months ago. I have a hagen 802 PH that feeds my refugium and it then gravity returns to my display. So to answer your question I neither skim before nor after!! But if I was to skim I would probably either skim IN the refugium or prior to the refugium. But thats how I would go about it.....there are tons of options that all seem to produce positive results. Bottom line....the refugium addition is a huge POSITIVE...........no matter how you go about it.

Thanks NMreef :)
I run my skimmer around three days a week
I think I will put it before my refugium!
I got my 55 gal tank for my refugium
