i want to rid my 60 gal setup from my can filter. I have a 2 clowns and 1 anemone. about 40 pounds of LR (i will be getting more) and LS. Also, i have a AquaC Remora Protein skimmer and 2 MJ 900 Ph's for water flow.
Can I just turn off my can filter or is it necessary to wean the system by taking out the bio media little by little?
Ill keep the Can filter for running carbon occasionally.

I have a can filter and I use it to run carbon all the time. You don't need to ween the can filter off you tank becuse you have a good amount of LR and it can handle you bio load
BTW it is really up to you on how often you want to run carbon persontly i find no illeffects on running it all the time.

I would wean it down. You don't have that much LR and how old is your setup? Slight filter changes can definetly have some ill effect. Don't take the chance. Patience!!!

yeah i would take it slow, seeing how i took off my can filter a lil while back so i could put a fuge and sump where it was and now i have a bunch of diatoms( i guess this was a result at least partly on the removal) i sure hope that fuge gets goin soon:yes:
