NO to VHO

Anybody know how to change a regular aqurium hood so it can run VHO bulbs? I tried to just put them in and see if they would work, but they just flicker.

You would probably have to change the ballast.

Thats what I was thinking, but I just didn't know how to choose.

You need a ballast capable or running VHO. I highly recommend an electronic ballast. I prefer IceCap, some people also like Workhorse as they are cheaper.

I would replace the ballast with an IceCap 660 and the endcaps with 3 piece German hard plastic.
